Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami Hires Kurt Schmid
as Technical Director
MIAMI, FL (Thursday, January 3, 2019) -
Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami announced today Kurt Schmid as the team’s first Technical Director.
The 10-year MLS veteran joins Inter Miami after a decorated career with the LA Galaxy and the Seattle Sounders.
In his role with Inter Miami, Kurt will work directly with Sporting Director Paul McDonough on all soccer-related aspects of the first team and the academy, with a particular focus on leading scouting efforts to identify local and international talent for the club.
“We are extremely happy to welcome Kurt to the Inter Miami family,” said Sporting Director Paul McDonough. “His deep roots in the national soccer landscape, paired with his vast global scouting experience will be an invaluable component for our club and our technical staff.”
Kurt’s career in MLS started in 2009, when he joined the Seattle Sounders in their expansion season as an assistant coach and scout. During his seven seasons with the Sounders he helped them to four U.S. Open Cups (2009, 2010, 2011, 2014) and one Supporters’ Shield (2014) before being named Head Scout in 2016. Immediately following Seattle’s 2016 MLS Cup win, he was promoted to Director of Player Personnel.
After his time with the Sounders, Kurt joined the Galaxy in 2017 where he served as the team’s Director of Player Personnel and Scouting.
Prior to his time in MLS, Kurt worked at Saint Mary’s College as an Assistant Coach before assuming the same position at UC Irvine in 2007-08.
Schmid played soccer at Wake Forest and UCLA, representing the Bruins’ 2002 side that earned an NCAA Championship. He graduated from UCLA with a degree in Business-Economics.

El Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami anunció el día de hoy la contratación de Kurt Schmid como el primer Director de Fútbol (Technical Director) del equipo.
El veterano de 10 años en la MLS se suma a la franquicia como parte del cuerpo técnico de Miami después de una carrera importante con equipos como el LA Galaxy y el Seattle Sounders.
En su nuevo rol con el Inter Miami, Kurt trabajará directamente con el Director Deportivo, Paul McDonough en todos los aspectos futbolísticos del primer equipo y la academia, con un enfoque en particular en la visoria de talentos locales e internacionales para el club.

La carrera de Kurt en la MLS inició en el 2009, cuando llegó al Seattle Sounders en su temporada de expansión como Asistente Técnico y visor. Kurt fue promovido a Director de Personal de Jugadores después de que el euqipo ganara el titulo de la MLS en el 2016.
Después de su paso por Seattle, Kurt llego al Galaxy en el 2017 como Director de Visorias y Personal de Jugadores.
Previo a la MLS, Kurt trabajó en las Universidades de Saint Mary y UC Irvine como asistente técnico.
Schmid se desempeño como jugador en las universidades de Wake Forest y UCLA, ganando un campeonato de la NCAA con los Bruins en el 2002. Se graduó de UCLA con un titulo de Economía.
