After keeping his side in the hunt for an Audi 2026 MLS Cup Playoffs spot with a stellar performance, Columbus Crew midfielder Dylan Chambost has been named MLS Player of the Matchday presented by Michelob ULTRA for Matchday 32 of the 2026 season.
Chambost dished out a trio of assists in the Columbus Crew’s 4-2 home victory over Toronto FC on Saturday afternoon.Â
The 29-year-old became the sixth player in club history to produce at least three assists in a regular-season game, and the first since Alexandru Mățan did so on March 25, 2023. His three assists are also tied for the second-most in an MLS regular-season match this season.
This season, the French midfielder is now up to seven assists, just one shy of his previous single-season high (eight in 2025).
The Crew’s victory was crucial as they jumped to 10th in the Eastern Conference with 38 points (11W-15L-5D) and sit one point behind Red Bull New York for the final Wild Card spot (39 points, 11W-14L-6D).
Chambost is the second consecutive French player to be named MLS Player of the Matchday, following Orlando City’s Antoine Griezmann (Matchday 31).
It is the first time Chambost has earned the honor in his career, and he is the first Crew player to win the award since Cucho Hernández in 2024 (Matchday 37).
Chambost and Columbus continue to push for an Audi MLS Cup Playoffs spot when they visit FC Dallas on Wednesday night (8:30 pm ET | Apple TV).
The MLS Player of the Matchday is selected each matchday of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while an Instagram fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
