International, Designated Player2022: Signed from Yokohama F. Marinos as a Designated Player in January, Martins enjoyed a fine debut campaign for NYCFC. A regular name in the City backline, he started 28 of 29 MLS games in total, completing every minute of our playoff journey. Helping the Club to an impressive run of clean sheets, he scooped the Etihad Player of the Month in July, and also crafted two assists. Playing the full 90 minutes, he helped the Boys in Blue to Campeones Cup glory against Atlas F.C, and was shortlisted for the MLS Newcomer of the Year.
2020: Martins made his transfer to Japan permanent, eventually captaining the team and playing in the AFC Champions League.
2018: Following temporary spells with Paysandu and Bahia, the defender was loaned to Japanese side Yokohama F. Marinos. A year later, he was a defensive cornerstone for the Club as they marched to the 2019 league championship, making 33 appearances while earning a spot on the Team of the Year.
2013: Martins began his career at Palmeiras, where he made 50 appearances from 2013-2016 and played a part in helping the Club achieve promotion to the first division, subsequently winning the league in the first division in 2016.
