Canada roster: 12 MLS players called for 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup
Canada head coach Jesse Marsch has named 12 MLS players to his 26-man roster for the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup this summer, while another six featured in the league before moving abroad.
Joel Waterman joined CF Montréal in January 2020 from Cavalry FC of the Canadian Premier League. The move made Waterman the first player to transfer from the CPL to MLS.
The central defender made his CF Montréal debut in a Concacaf Champions League (now Champions Cup) match against Deportivo Saprissa in February 2020.
In 2021, he helped CF Montréal win the Canadian Championship final against Toronto FC in front of their home fans at Stade Saputo.
In November 2022, Waterman was selected by the Canadian national team for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He also represented his country at the 2024 Copa América.
