The Philadelphia Union are on top of the world – or at least on top of the MLS standings – after their 5-0 victory over previous league leaders Toronto FC last week helped them to overtake the MLS throne. Now reaching new heights with the club’s best-ever overall league ranking, the Union prepare to face a Columbus Crew SC side that boasts the league’s second-highest goalscorer in
Gyasi Zardes
and the statistically best defensive unit across all teams. The match is set for this Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

Meanwhile, Columbus has the all-out best defense in the regular season, touting a 0.84 GAA, with their nine shutouts tied with Toronto FC for the most in league play. However, the firepower of their offense shouldn’t be underestimated either. U.S. National Team forward Zardes has 11 goals on the season, only one goal shy of LAFC’s Diego Rossi, who is leading the race to the Golden Boot presented by Audi with 12. Reynoso, Clark Among Top Additions as Secondary Transfer Window Comes to a Close
Major League Soccer’s 2020 Roster Freeze Date and Secondary Transfer Window come to a close on Thursday, Oct. 29, the final chance for clubs to make additions ahead of a final push for the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs. Among the notable signings since the opening of the Secondary Transfer Window on Aug. 12 include Minnesota United midfielder

Reynoso has three assists for Minnesota, tied for second-most on the club in only 10 matches played. The 24-year-old Designated Player signing from Boca Juniors has led the Loons to a 3-0 record in matches where he records an assist, while Minnesota is undefeated in its previous five matches and sits in fifth place in the Western Conference.
New York meanwhile signed Clark from their USL affiliate Red Bulls II and the 17-year-old has immediately made an impact, helping the club stay undefeated since his arrival over the previous four matches. Clark scored the
game-winning goal
in his debut and then scored the
game-tying goal
in his following match. Behind the teenager’s heroics, New York is seventh in the Eastern Conference.

MLS Regular Season: Week 21 Game Notes
Tuesday, Oct. 27
Montreal Impact vs. Nashville SC, 7 p.m. (TSN; TVA Sports)

The Impact weren’t able to make it a third win from five games, falling 3-1 to New York City FC at Yankee Stadium on Saturday evening.
Romell Quioto scored his seventh goal of the season for the Impact – he now has a goal or an assist in seven consecutive games dating back to Sept. 13, with four goals and four assists in that span.
Nashville SC extended their undefeated streak to three games, reaching a 1-1 draw with the New England Revolution on Friday evening. The result extended the club’s undefeated streak at Nissan Stadium to eight games, all since a season-opening loss to Atlanta United on Feb. 29, the longest home winning streak in MLS this season.
Walker Zimmerman scored his third goal of the season, his second in the last three games, tied for the club lead in goals.
The teams are meeting for the first time in their histories.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs. Seattle Sounders FC, 10 p.m. (TSN)

Whitecaps FC came back to win a third game in the last four matches, defeating the San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 at Providence Park on Sunday evening. Ali Adnan started the comeback with an inch-perfect direct free kick goal, then Tosaint Ricketts touched home the winner.
Sounders FC gained a second consecutive draw and a fifth result in the last six games, reaching a 1-1 result with the Portland Timbers at CenturyLink Field on Friday evening. Will Bruin scored the equalizer in stoppage time, his first goal in a league match since April 13, 2019.
The teams are meeting for the third time this season, and Sounders FC have won both. Nicolás Lodeiro and Jordan Morris each had a goal and an assist, in a 3-0 win during group play at the MLS is Back Tournament on July 19, then on Oct. 3, the Sounders FC scored three goals in 12 minutes on either side of halftime in a 3-1 win at CenturyLink Field.
Sounders FC have a eight-game undefeated streak alive in the series, since the last Whitecaps FC win April 14, 2017, a 2-1 victory at BC Place. Seattle has won six of the eight league games in between, with two draws; Sounders FC also advanced in the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2017 with a goalless draw and a 2-0 win at home.
The teams have met the most times of any rivalry in soccer history in the USA and Canada. Since the clubs first met at Empire Stadium on June 9, 1974, in the old North American Soccer League, they have played 142 times over all competitions. The Sounders have won 69, the Whitecaps 50, and there have been 23 draws.

Wednesday, Oct. 28
New York Red Bulls vs. New England Revolution, 7 p.m.

The Red Bulls gained a third consecutive draw and extended their undefeated run to four games, grabbing a late 2-2 draw with Chicago Fire FC at Soldier Field on Saturday evening. Brian White scored the leveler in second-half stoppage-time – becoming just the fourth player in MLS history to score goals after the 90th minute in back-to-back matches.
The Revolution rebounded from a first loss in three games, playing to a 1-1 draw with Nashville SC at Nissan Stadium on Friday evening. Adam Buksa scored from long range for the equalizer, his fifth of the season.
The teams are meeting for the second time this season. The Red Bulls’ Omir Fernández and Gustavo Bou of the Revolution traded goals six minutes apart in the first half, leaving the teams in a 1-1 draw Aug. 29 at Gillette Stadium.
The visiting team has won just twice in the series over the past 12 seasons in league play. The Red Bulls won 3-2 on July 5, 2017 in Foxborough, their second win there in four seasons. When the Red Bulls won 2-0 at Gillette Stadium on June 8, 2014, it was the first for New York in New England since 2002. The Revolution had won 13 of 19 meetings in league and MLS Cup play since that previous New York win.
The Revolution have never defeated the Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena in league play. Since the stadium opened in 2010, the Red Bulls have won 10 of 12 regular-season games there, with two draws. When the Revolution won 2-1 in Harrison in the first leg of the 2014 Eastern Conference Championship, it was their first win of any sort in New Jersey since 2007, ending a 10-game winless streak there in all competitions. The Revolution did defeat the Montréal Impact in Harrison in an Impact home game earlier this year.

FC Cincinnati vs. Sporting Kansas City, 7:30 p.m.

FC Cincinnati suffered a loss by the game’s only goal in their fourth consecutive home game at Nippert Stadium, falling to Minnesota United FC on Saturday evening.
Sporting put an end to a quick two-game winless skid, storming to a 4-0 win against the Colorado Rapids at Children’s Mercy Park on Saturday evening. All four SKC goals came in the second half, Alan Pulido and Gadi Kinda each netting their sixth of the season.
The teams met once in FC Cincinnati’s inaugural season, reaching a 1-1 draw at Nippert Stadium on April 7.

Orlando City SC vs. Atlanta United, 7:30 p.m. (FS1 / FOX Deportes)

Orlando City SC saw their club record undefeated streak finally come to an end after 12 games, falling late in a 2-1 loss to Inter Miami CF in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday afternoon. Rookie Daryl Dike netted his fifth goal of the season.
Atlanta United had their late winless skid extended, falling to late goal in a 2-1 loss to D.C. United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Jon Gallagher scored the ATLUTD goal, his fourth of the campaign.
The teams are meeting for the fourth time this season. In the last meeting, they reached a goalless draw Oct. 7 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Prior, they played twice in a home-and-home series over a week. Orlando City SC won for the first time in 10 meetings in all competitions between the clubs with a 3-1 win at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Aug. 29, then ATLUTD’s Adam Jahn hit for a stoppage-time equalizer to leave the teams in a 1-1 draw Sept. 5 at Exploria Stadium.
In first eight league meetings all-time, Atlanta United had not lost to their neighbor to the south, with six wins and two draws. The OCSC win in the first meeting this year snapped a five-game ATLUTD winning streak in the series.

Philadelphia Union vs. Chicago Fire FC, 7:30 p.m.

The Union won a second consecutive match and a fourth in the last five, matching the club’s largest margin of victory with a 5-0 win against Toronto FC at Subaru Park on Saturday evening.
Sergio Santos recorded the fourth hat trick in Union club history, the third Brazilian-born player ever to hit for a hat trick in the league’s 25 seasons. Kacper Przybylko added three assists, equaling the club record.
Fire FC stretched the club’s undefeated streak to three games with a second consecutive draw, reaching a 2-2 draw with the New York Red Bulls at Soldier Field on Saturday evening. Robert Berić netted his ninth goal of the season, now tied for third place in the MLS Golden Boot standings.
The teams met twice a season ago, each winning on their home ground. Marco Fabian scored early and Anthony Fontana netted a second-half goal as the Union won 2-0, July 20 in Chester; then on Aug. 17, Nemanja Nikolic netted a brace just before halftime as the Fire took a 2-0 win at SeatGeek Stadium.
The Fire win in the last meeting ended a three-game Union winning streak in the series. But the Union have won the last four matchups in a row in Chester. The Union’s home win in 2016 snapped a seven-game winless streak overall in the league series. The Fire ended with five wins in the last six meetings overall in Bridgeview.

Toronto FC vs. New York City FC, 7:30 p.m. (TSN)

Toronto FC saw their nine-game undefeated streak come to an end with a first loss since Sept. 5, falling 5-0 to the Philadelphia Union in a meeting of the top two teams overall in MLS this season.
NYCFC put an end to a three-game winless slide, defeating the Montréal Impact 3-1 at Yankee Stadium on Saturday evening. Maximiliano Moralez scored his first goal of the 2020 league season, while Jesús Medina added his third of the year.
The teams are meeting for the third time this season in league play, and Toronto FC won the first two by the game’s only goal. Ifunanyachi Achara scored the game’s only goal nine minutes from full time for the victory March 7 at BMO Field, then Alejandro Pozuelo converted a penalty kick in the 90th minute for the win Sept. 23 at Red Bull Arena. The teams also met in the round-of-16 in the MLS is Back Tournament, as Maximiliano Moralez assisted on goal and scored one, leading NYCFC to a 3-1 win on July 26.
TFC have taken points from the last four league meetings, last year winning 4-0 on March 29 at BMO Field, and reaching a 1-1 draw Sept. 11 at Yankee Stadium. TFC has won four times in 13 regular-season meetings in the series – the first two by 4-0 scorelines at BMO Field, before the wins this year.
The teams also met in the Eastern Conference Semifinals a year ago, Alejandro Pozuelo converted a penalty kick in the 90th minute for his second goal of the game to give TFC a 2-1 win at CitiField. The teams also met in the Eastern Conference Semifinals in 2016, Toronto FC winning 7-0 on aggregate, a 2-0 victory at BMO Field, then 5-0 at Yankee Stadium.

D.C. United vs. Columbus Crew SC, 8 p.m.

D.C. United won a second consecutive game in dramatic fashion, getting a late winner for a 2-1 win against Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Gelmin Rivas made his first MLS league goal a memorable one, hitting for the game-winner in second-half stoppage time.
Crew SC gained a second consecutive result, reaching a 1-1 draw with the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Stadium on Saturday evening.
The teams met twice a season ago, both games inside of a two-week span, D.C. United winning both. Wayne Rooney scored the game’s lone goal directly from a free kick, as D.C. United took the victory on April 24 at Mapfre Stadium; Rooney was then one of three goalscorers as United took a 3-1 win May 4 at Audi Field.
The final meeting last year was the first in the series at Audi Field. This first meeting victory last year was the first for D.C. United in Columbus since the 2007 season. Crew SC had won eight of the 11 meetings in between on their home ground, with three draws.

Minnesota United FC vs. Colorado Rapids, 8 p.m.

MNUFC extended their undefeated streak to five games with a second win in that time, defeating FC Cincinnati by the game’s only goal at Nippert Stadium on Saturday evening. Aaron Schoenfeld hit for the game-winner in second-half stoppage time, his first goal in MLS since Oct. 25, 2015.
The Rapids saw their two-game winning run come to an end in their first game since Sept. 23, falling 4-0 to Sporting Kansas City at Children’s Mercy Park on Saturday evening.
The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Ethan Finlay scored twice, but Jonathan Lewis came off the substitutes’ bench to net a second-half equalizer, leaving the teams in a 2-2 draw during the group stage of the MLS is Back Tournament on July 22.
The teams met twice a season ago, each winning by a 1-0 scoreline. Kei Kamara scored the game’s only goal in the 29th minute, leading the Rapids to the victory on June 8 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Darwin Quintero scored the only goal for the MNUFC win Aug. 14 at Allianz Field.
The teams met twice in 2018 and the Rapids won both, coming back for a 3-2 win on June 23 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, then taking a 2-0 win on Oct. 13 at TCF Bank Stadium. They met twice in Minnesota United’s inaugural campaign, reaching a 2-2 draw in the first encounter on March 18 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park before MNUFC claimed a 1-0 win on April 18 at TCF Bank Stadium.

FC Dallas vs. Inter Miami CF, 8:30 p.m.

FC Dallas gained a fourth result in the last six games with a third draw in that span, playing to a goalless draw with Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday evening. Jimmy Maurer was credited with three saves in recording his single-season career-high fifth shutout of the season.
Inter Miami CF gained a result for a fourth time in the last five games with a third win in that time, with a dramatic 2-1 win against Orlando City SC at Inter Miami CF Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Leandro González Pirez netted his first goal of the season and his first for Inter Miami for the game-winner in the 89th minute.
The teams are meeting for the first time in their histories.

Portland Timbers vs. LA Galaxy, 10 p.m. (ESPN/Deportes; TSN)

The Timbers gained points for an eighth time in the last nine games, playing to a second consecutive draw in a 1-1 result with Seattle Sounders FC at CenturyLink Field on Friday evening. Andrés Flores netted the goal in his first appearance of the league campaign this year, his first in MLS since Oct. 28, 2018.
The Galaxy weren’t able to build upon a first victory in eight matches, falling 2-0 to Los Angeles Football Club at Banc of California Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The teams are meeting for the fourth time this season. In the last meeting, Felipe Mora and Jeremy Ebobisse each scored twice as the Timbers set an club record in MLS play for goals in a game in a 6-3 win at Dignity Health Sports Park on Oct. 7. In the first meeting, the Timbers took a 2-1 win July 13 in the first match for both clubs in the MLS is Back Tournament, then the Galaxy claimed a 3-2 win at Providence Park on Sept. 2.
The win for the Timbers in the last meeting was the first away victory for either team in the league series since 2017, a 1-0 Timbers win at Dignity Health Sports Park. The Galaxy have not won in Portland since 2016.

Los Angeles Football Club vs. Houston Dynamo, 10:30 p.m.

LAFC took points for a fourth time in the last five games with a third victory in that time, defeating the LA Galaxy at Banc of California Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Danny Musovski netted his fifth goal of the season, all coming since Sept. 2, and Carlos Vela celebrated his return to play with his third goal of the season, after netting goals in each of the first two matches of the year on March 1-8. Vela has scored a goal now in 12 of last 13 league appearances, dating back to last Aug. 11.
The Dynamo gained a second consecutive draw, playing to a 1-1 result with Columbus Crew SC at BBVA Stadium on Saturday evening. Memo Rodríguez scored his fifth goal of the season, a second consecutive game with a goal.
The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Memo Rodríguez scored twice for the Dynamo in the opening half-hour, but Diego Rossi and Brian Rodríguez pulled LAFC with goals six minutes apart in the second half, leaving the teams in a breathless 3-3 draw during the group stage of the MLS is Back Tournament on July 13.
LAFC has never lost to the Dynamo in five meetings all-time, winning three in a row before this year’s draw. The teams met twice a season ago, and LAFC won both, each by 3-1 scorelines – winning July 12 at BBVA Stadium, and Sept. 25 at Banc of California Stadium. The teams reached a 2-2 draw in their first meeting ever, July 3, 2018 in Houston.

San Jose Earthquakes vs. Real Salt Lake, 10:30 p.m.

The Quakes saw their two-game undefeated run come to an end, falling 2-1 to Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Providence Park on Saturday evening. Carlos Fierro netted his second goal of the season for the Quakes’ tally.
Real Salt Lake made it two games without loss, playing to a goalless draw with FC Dallas at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday evening.
The teams met twice a season ago, each winning by the game’s only goal on their home ground. Danny Hoesen scored in stoppage time, giving the Quakes the victory July 6 at Avaya Stadium; Damir Kreilach hit the back of the net in the 75th minute for an RSL win Sept. 11 at Rio Tinto Stadium.
The Quakes now own a five-game undefeated streak in the series in San Jose, with four wins in that span, the last RSL win there a 1-0 triumph on April 5, 2015. Real are undefeated in their past six home meetings with the Quakes, with three wins and three draws in that time, the last San Jose victory in Sandy, Utah, coming in 2013.

Saturday, Oct. 31
FC Dallas vs. Houston Dynamo, 3:30 p.m. (Univision / TUDN)

The teams are meeting for the fourth time this season. Darwin Quintero scored early and Darwin Céren scored late as the Dynamo took a 2-0 win Oct. 7 at BBVA Stadium. Earlier, Franco Jara hit for the winner to give FCD a 2-1 victory at Toyota Stadium on Sept. 12; the teams reached a goalless draw Aug. 21 at BBVA Stadium.
The Dynamo have now won in the series each of the last two seasons. Since the start of 2013, FC Dallas are 9-3-7 in league play against Houston, and have won the three meetings between the teams in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
FC Dallas has won five of the 13 matches (with four draws) between the teams over all competitions at BBVA Stadium. The Dynamo haven’t won in Frisco since 2011, FCD winning the last three there.
The clubs play for “El Capitán,” the 19th-century Mountain Howitzer cannon to be awarded to the winner of the season series by supporters’ groups for both clubs.

Nashville SC vs. Chicago Fire FC, 8:30 p.m.

The teams are meeting for the first time in their histories.

Sunday, Nov. 1
Columbus Crew SC vs. Philadelphia Union, 3:30 p.m. (ABC / ESPN Deportes; TSN)

The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Lucas Zelarayán scored the game’s only goal in the 55th minute for a Crew SC win at Mapfre Stadium on Sept. 2.
The teams met twice a season ago, each winning by shutout on their home ground. David Accam scored a pair of goals then set up a third by Ilsinho, leading his former club in the Union to a 3-0 win against his future club in Crew SC in Chester on March 23. Then on Sept. 29, Youness Mohktar and Pedro Santos netted goals four minutes apart midway through the second half, giving Crew SC a 2-0 win Sept. 29 at Mapfre Stadium.

There has a been a shutout in each of the past eight meetings between the teams. The Union are undefeated in the last four meetings in Chester; they have a 270-minute shutout streak alive in home games. Crew SC are undefeated in the last five meetings between the teams at Mapfre Stadium with four wins; the Union have not scored in the last 466 minutes played in Columbus.

Atlanta United vs. FC Cincinnati, 7 p.m.

The teams are meeting for the third time this season. Frankie Amaya netted the game’s only goal in the 76th minute as FC Cincinnati took the win during the group stage of the MLS is Back Tournament on July 16. Ezequiel Barco and Emerson Hyndman each netted goals for a second consecutive game as ATLUTD took a 2-1 win March 7 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The teams met twice a season ago in FCC’s inaugural season. The teams reached a 1-1 draw March 10 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, then Josef Martínez netted both goals in ATLUTD’s 2-1 triumph Sept. 18 at Nippert Stadium. Martínez scored all three Atlanta goals in the series.

New York City FC vs. New York Red Bulls, 7 p.m.

The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Kyle Duncan scored the game’s only goal to give the Red Bulls the win Aug. 20 at Red Bull Arena.
The Red Bulls have won eight of the 15 meetings all-time in league play, with a 30-16 goal differential. Included in that was a 7-0 Red Bulls win on May 21, 2016, at Yankee Stadium, the victory matching the largest margin of victory in MLS history (and the seven goals by the Red Bulls their club record). In all competitions, the Red Bulls have won 10 of 17 matches, with two draws, with a 34-16 goal differential. NYCFC have won four of the last nine league meetings, with one draw, over the last four years.

Sporting Kansas City vs. Minnesota United FC, 7:30 p.m.

The teams are meeting for the fourth time this season. Johnny Russell scored the game’s only goal in the 80th minute as Sporting took the win at Children’s Mercy Park on Sept. 13. Earlier, each teasm scored through an own goal and Gadi Kinda also hit the back of the net as Sporting took a 2-1 win Aug. 21 at Allianz Field. The teams also met in group play during the MLS is Back Tournament, as Kevin Molino scored the game-winner seven minutes deep into second-half stoppage time to give Minnesota United FC a 2-1 win on July 12.
SKC has won all six matchups at home over all competitions, five in league play and one in the U.S. Open Cup, including a 1-0 win there last Aug. 22 in the last meeting at Children’s Mercy Park. Sporting’s win at Allianz Field this year was their first in six visits to Minnesota all-time in all competitions.

Montreal Impact vs. Orlando City SC, 7:30 p.m. (TSN; TVA Sports)

The teams met twice a season ago, each winning on the other’s home ground. Ignacio Piatti scored goals early and late as the Impact eased to a 3-1 win on March 16 in Orlando; OCSC netted three goals in a 15-minute burst in the first half to claim a 3-0 win June 1 at Stade Saputo.
The Orlando City win in the last meeting ended a three-game Impact winning streak in the series, and a six-game undefeated streak, with five wins in that span. The last OCSC victory in the series came Sept. 7, 2016, a 4-1 victory at Stade Saputo. The Impact have a four-game undefeated streak alive in Orlando, with three wins and a draw.

New England Revolution vs. D.C. United, 7:30 p.m.

The teams are meeting for the fourth time this season. Gustavo Bou and Adam Buksa scored very late as the Revolution claimed a 2-0 win Sept. 27 at Audi Field. Earlier, Bou and Teal Bunbury netted first-half goals as the Revolution took a 2-1 win at Audi Field on Aug. 25. The teams also met during the group stage of the MLS is Back Tournament, reaching a 1-1 draw July 17.
The Revolution win in the first meeting was the first by the away team since 2013, a Revolution 2-1 win at RFK Stadium. D.C. United’s last win in league play in Foxborough came April 14, 2012, the Revolution with three wins in the eight meetings since, with five draws.
The teams have also met four times in the MLS Cup Playoffs, with United winning three of the four series all-time, last a 2-1 win at RFK Stadium in the Knockout Round in 2015. They have met five times in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the Revolution winning three, last in 2017.

Toronto FC vs. Inter Miami CF, 7:30 p.m. (TSN)

The teams are meeting for the first time in their histories.

Colorado Rapids vs. Seattle Sounders FC, 9 p.m.

The teams met twice a season ago, each winning by a 2-0 scoreline on their home ground. Kelvin Leerdam and Raúl Ruidíaz netted goals in the opening eight minutes as Sounders FC took the victory on March 9 at CenturyLink Field; Andre Shinyashiki hit for a brace as the Rapids claimed the win Sept. 7 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
The Rapids win in the last meeting ended a five-game Sounders FC winning streak in the series. Those victories came after a three-game winning streak for the Rapids in the series – which had come on the heels of a five-game Sounders FC winning streak in the series.
Sounders FC have won the past three meetings in Seattle – all by shutout (now 317 minutes since their last home goal conceded vs. Colorado). Sounders FC have won five of the past seven meetings in Commerce City, in both league and MLS Cup Playoffs competition, dating back to 2014.

Portland Timbers vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC, 10 p.m. (TSN)

The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Felipe Mora scored the game’s only goal after just five minutes and the Timbers held out for the win Sept. 27 at Providence Park in a Whitecaps FC home game.
The Timbers have won the last two meetings after a three-game Whitecaps FC winning streak in the series, after the Timbers won the prior three matchups. Whitecaps FC have won seven times in 25 all-time MLS meetings between the teams, all coming in the past 17 meetings.
The teams first met on May 16, 1975, in the old North American Soccer League, with the Timbers winning 2-0 at Empire Stadium in Vancouver. The teams have met 95 times in all, across a number of competitions – the Whitecaps hold a 40-37-18 advantage in the all-time record between the clubs. The teams met twice in the NASL playoffs, in 1978 and 1980, with each team advancing on one occasion.

LA Galaxy vs. Real Salt Lake, 10:30 p.m.

The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Albert Rusnák converted a penalty kick then set up a Damir Kreilach goal seven minutes apart midway through the second half, giving RSL a 2-0 win Sept. 23 at Rio Tinto Stadium.
The teams met twice a season ago, and the Galaxy won both, each by a 2-1 scoreline, with Zlatan Ibrahimović scoring a late game-winner both times, first April 28 at Dignity Health Sports Park, then Sept. 25 at Rio Tinto Stadium. The Galaxy have won the last two meetings in Carson; their win in Sandy last year was their first there since 2017.
The teams also met five times in eight seasons in the MLS Cup Playoffs, last in the Knockout Round in 2016. The Galaxy have won on three occasions, RSL won via penalty shootout when the clubs met in the 2009 MLS Cup, and also in the Western Conference Semifinals in 2013.

San Jose Earthquakes vs. Los Angeles Football Club, 10:30 p.m.

The teams are meeting for the third time this season. Shea Salinas and Jackson Yueill scored goals in the final 10-plus minutes as the Quakes came back for a 2-1 win Sept. 27 at Banc of California Stadium. Earlier, Diego Rossi netted a pair of goals as LAFC rolled to a 5-1 on Sept. 2 at Banc of California Stadium.
The Quakes win in the last meeting was their first in the all-time series, in six meetings. LAFC had won the first five meetings between the clubs.
LAFC scored four goals or more in three consecutive matches with the Quakes, through the first meeting this year, the second team in MLS history to achieve that (also, LA Galaxy vs. Philadelphia Union, 2013-15). A year ago, LAFC cruised to a 5-0 win on March 30 in San Jose behind a Carlos Vela hat trick; Vela then netted two more goals as LAFC won 4-0 on Aug. 21 at Banc of California Stadium.
