TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Toronto FC are in pursuit of defensive reinforcements according to a report from French outlet RMC Sport linking the Reds to Nîmes Olympique and former Paris Saint-Germain center back Loïck Landre.
According to the report, TFC have made a concrete offer to Nimes for the 28-year-old, who has been with the club since 2018. Landre will reportedly be out of contract at the end of the summer, allowing him to negotiate a new contract with other clubs as of Jan. 1.
Landre played his youth soccer for PSG but only made one first-team appearance for the French giants before embarking on two separate stints on loan with Clermont and Gazélec Ajaccio before a 79-match run with Lens from 2013-2017. He featured for France at the U-19, U-20 and U-21 levels.
The Reds are in the market for a center back, as Laurent Ciman and Eriq Zavaleta each saw their contracts expire at the end of the 2020 season.
Should TFC complete their pursuit of Landre, he would join Chris Mavinga and Quentin Westberg as French-born players on the club's roster.
