TRANSFER TRACKER:Report
The New York Red Bulls are in the midst of updating their squad under new head coach Gerhard Stuber, and may be adding Stoke City right back Tom Edwards, per a report from the Stoke Sentinel.
Stoke recently recalled Edwards from his loan at League One side Fleetwood Town, where he played 12 games over a three-month stretch, reportedly with the intent to loan him again. The report claims Edwards has long been a Red Bulls target, and that the parties would like to get the deal done before the start of the 2021 MLS season.
The 21-year-old has been with Stoke since he was eight, and made his debut in 2017 when the club was still in the Premier League. He was a regular fixture during their return to the Championship in 2018-19, but has seen his playing time decrease since. Edwards also played for England's under-20 team in 2018 and 2019.
The Red Bulls have recently made changes in defense, signing Andres Reyes from Atletico Nacional and trading away Tim Parker to the Houston Dynamo.
