TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
Real Salt Lake has signed another academy product to their first team, announcing Friday that the club has added Andrew Brody from Real Monarchs to a Homegrown contract.
Brody becomes the 23rd product from the RSL Academy signed to the first team, and the second this week after the club announced the signing of Homegrown midfielder Bode Davis on Tuesday. The 25-year-old signed with the club's USL Championship affiliate Real Monarchs in 2016 and became a standout contributor, making a club record 99 regular-season appearances. Across 7,770 USL minutes, Brody scored seven goals and dished out seven assists, including one goal and one assist in 2020. He also spent six months on loan at FC Pinzgau Saalfelden in Austria’s third division in 2019.
Brody will remain with the Monarchs for the 2020 season and join RSL’s roster in 2021.
“Andrew is a great example of success in our development pipeline. He’s a player that came up through our Academy and had success in the Academy. He went to college and had success in college. He came in with the Monarchs and did well with the Monarchs,” Real Salt Lake general manager Elliot Fall said in a statemetn. “He was on fringe of playing at the MLS level and went to Austria for six months and was great. He took that next step in his development and came back a different player. He’s earned it and we are proud and excited to have his name on an RSL kit.”
Before turning pro, Brody played his college soccer at the University of Louisville from 2013-2015, scoring nine goals in 61 appearances.
He joins a healthy crop of Homegrown signings for RSL, which currently has 11 academy products signed to its first-team roster. The club has led MLS in minutes played by its academy products in each of the last two seasons with over 23,000 regular season minutes.
