TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Trade
- POR receive: Ronald Hernández
- ATL receive: Up to $150k GAM
The Portland Timbers have acquired defender Ronald Hernández from Atlanta United, the clubs announced Wednesday.
In exchange for the Venezuelan international, Atlanta receive $50,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money (GAM) and up to $100k in conditional GAM.
The 28-year-old joins Portland as they navigate injuries to right backs Juan Mosquera and Brandon Bye.
"Ronald gives us another option at right back where we have experienced some unfortunate injuries this summer,” said Timbers general manager Ned Grabavoy.
“His experience and familiarity with MLS should have him available and ready to compete for involvement within our squad. We look forward to welcoming him and his family to Portland."
Hernández spent the past five-and-a-half seasons with Atlanta, making 97 appearances across all competitions and contributing 3g/3a.
Internationally, Hernández has tallied 1g/3a in 36 caps for Venezuela and has competed in FIFA World Cup qualifying and the 2021 Copa América.
