The New York Red Bulls have appointed Bernd Eibler to Gerhard Struber’s coaching staff as an assistant coach, the club announced Tuesday. Eibler, like Struber, will join the club upon receipt of his U.S. Work Visa.
Eibler, 26, was most recently an assistant coach and video analyst with Austrian Bundesliga side SV Mattersburg from January 2019 until August 2020.
"Bernd is a very ambitious young trainer who will support our team in game planning and development,” Struber said in a statement. “Bernd and I have been in constant contact about football for several years. I am very happy to have won him for our project in New York.”
Struber was appointed the new RBNY head coach on October 6. Head of sport Kevin Thelwell cautioned that the club don't expect Struber to get to the United States for about 6-8 weeks.
Eibler holds his UEFA A License.
“I am very proud to get the chance to work in MLS and to be a part of the New York Red Bulls team,” said Eibler. “I’m looking forward for this awesome journey and can’t wait to start.”
