Johnson Joins Goalkeeping Elites with Win No. 150
With a win over the Philadelphia Union on Saturday night, Toronto FC goalkeeper Sean Johnson became the fourth goalkeeper in MLS history to record 150 regular season wins.
Johnson is only second to Seattle Sounders FC goalkeeper Stefan Frei (166) in regular season wins among active goalkeepers and fourth overall, behind Nick Rimando (223) and Kevin Hartman (180). The U.S. Men’s National Team goalkeeper earns his 150th win in his 15th season playing in MLS, earning 58 with Chicago Fire FC (2010-16), 83 with New York City FC (2017-22), and nine with Toronto FC (2023-Present).

Cucho Leads Rout of LAFC in MLS Cup Rematch
In the first meeting between the Columbus Crew and LAFC since MLS Cup 2023 presented by Audi, the Crew traveled to California and handed their opponents a 5-1 loss at BMO Stadium to move within a point of fourth place in the Supporters’ Shield standings.
With a goal and an assist on Saturday, Cucho Hernández (2023-24) joined Jeff Cunningham (2001-02) and Stern John (1998-99) as the only players in club history with 20 goal contributions in consecutive seasons. Hernández’s goal was his 12th of the season (WATCH HERE), moving him into fourth place in the race for the MLS Golden Boot presented by Audi with six other players. The five goals scored by the Crew on the night were the most scored by an away side at BMO Stadium since LAFC’s inaugural 2018 MLS regular season.
Hernández and the Crew will look to continue their ascension up the Supporters’ Shield standings on Wednesday, July 17, when they take on Charlotte FC in Matchday 27 action (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV).
Facundo Fires Orlando to Victory
Orlando City SC midfielder Facundo Torres helped his side rally from behind early in the first with two goals of his own (WATCH HERE), helping Orlando secure a 3-1 victory away from home.
With the brace, Torres tied Cyle Larin and Mauricio Pereyra (49) for the second-most goal contributions by a player in club history. Torres now has 30 goals and 19 assists across 84 regular season appearances for Orlando since 2022, and the Uruguayan international only trails Nani’s 51 goal contributions (28 goals, 23 assists) for the most by a player in club history.

Westwood Assists Charlotte to Road Win Over Cincinnati
Three assists courtesy of midfielder Ashley Westwood helped Charlotte FC earn a 3-1 road win against Supporters’ Shield leaders FC Cincinnati at TQL Stadium on Saturday night.
Charlotte took a 2-0 lead before Cincinnati reduced the deficit in the 22nd minute. The visiting side found its third goal in the 66th minute, securing Westwood’s third assist and making him the first player in club history to tally three assists in a regular season match.
This was the second time this season that Charlotte had three different players aged 23 years old or younger score in the same match, with 23-year-old Crown Legacy FC alumnus Iuri Tavares (WATCH HERE), 22-year-old Young Designated Player Liel Abada (WATCH HERE), and 22-year-old Kerwin Vargas (WATCH HERE) all finding the back of the net.
Westwood and Charlotte will now prepare to visit the MLS Cup 2023 presented by Audi champion Columbus Crew on Wednesday, July 17 (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV).
White Leads Vancouver in Four-Goal Game at St. Louis
Entering the match with a four-game unbeaten streak, Vancouver Whitecaps FC defeated St. Louis CITY SC 4-1 on the road at CITYPARK in St. Louis, Missouri.
Vancouver scored through Ryan Raposo (WATCH HERE), Fafa Picualt (WATCH HERE), while club season-leader Brian White scored two goals (WATCH HERE). White’s brace marked his 11th and 12th goals of the season (tied for third-most in the league this season), extending his consecutive scoring streak to four matches. White becomes the first player in Vancouver’s history to score in four consecutive regular-season games twice in a single season.
White will aim to continue his streak next week when Vancouver Whitecaps FC host Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday, July 17 (10:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV).
