Who doesn’t love a good rivalry? Well this weekend we don’t just have one but four! Yes, that’s right… FOUR rivalries in just one soccer-packed weekend! Earlier this week Toronto FC kicked off the MLS Heineken Rivalry Week against Montreal Impact with a 3-1 win. Starting off this weekend’s rivalries, our folks over in Texas battle it out for the El Capitan trophy. FC Dallas and the Houston Dynamo face off at Toyota Stadium where the men in blue and red look to clinch victory for a third straight season in a row. Over in the Golden State, we have the San Jose Earthquakes hosting the LA Galaxy in front of a crowd of 50,000 people at Stanford Stadium. For the second time this year, New York City FC and the New York Red Bulls take the pitch against each other. Fans are not only anticipating for which team is going to take the “W” but also which color the Empire State Building will be. Soccer fans in the Big Apple want to see their club’s color light up the building and it’s in their hands through social media and in a poll. Closing the weekend out, we have the biggest rivalry in MLS. The Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders meet for the second time in league play this season. We can feel the temperatures rising, literally and figuratively. Now MLS fans, I know if difficult to sit tight in your chairs so before you get ready for an awesome weekend, take a look at how your favorite clubs are making a different in the community.
