After an entirely successful and entertaining first season in MLS, the LA Galaxy are working hard to keep Zlatan Ibrahimovic for a second season in Hollywood.
Ibrahimovic, 37, had 22 goals and 10 assists in 27 appearances, nearly leading the club to the playoffs. Technical director Jovan Kirovski talked to Sky Sport Italiaās Gianluca Di Marzio about his desire to keep the player amid European interest, specifically from his former club AC Milan.
āIbrahimovic is a fantastic player both for us and for the whole of MLS," Kirovski said. "Heās the best player to have come to (MLS). ā¦ He always wants to win and score."
Kirovski also reminded everyone that the Swede is still contracted to the team.
āIbrahimovicās contract isnāt expiring, he still has a year on his contract with us," Kirovski added. "We want him to be happy in our team and we are working to ensure that he can continue playing for the Galaxy."
The Galaxy feel that Ibrahimovic, who was named 2018 MLS Newcomer of the Year and won 2018 AT&T Goal of the Year for his debut strike against LAFC, is truly one-of-a-kind.
āHeās a special player, unique for us," Kirovski said. "To score so many goals and provide so many assists at his age, after the injury at Manchester United, is incredible. There are many excellent players, but no-one is like him.ā
