Teams throughout MLS are opening up their venues as voting centers and ballot drop-offs for the upcoming general election on Nov. 3. Here's what stadiums will be opening their doors and when you can make use of their services. BBVA Stadium (Houston, Texas)
The Houston Dynamo, the NWSL's Houston Dash and the Harris County Clerk office announced that BBVA Stadium will serve as a Vote Center for the 2020 Presidential General Election. BBVA Stadium will be open to any registered voter in Harris County on Election Day, Nov. 3, with hours of operation from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT.
Voting booths will be located at Audi Sport Club on the West side of the stadium, serving as the entrance of the vote center.
In an effort to spark and energize voting interest, the Dynamo and Dash are also partnering with Rally The Vote, a nonpartisan coalition composed over 40 professional sports franchises — including several other MLS teams — teaming up to urge fans to register to vote and participate in elections. Subaru Park (Chester, Pennsylvania)
Delaware County and the Philadelphia Union have partnered to host a three-day Pop-Up Voter Service Center at Subaru Park in Chester on Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17 between 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, October 18, from noon – 6 p.m.
The Pop-Up Voter Service Center will be managed by the Delaware County Bureau of Elections and staffed by employees of the county. Delaware County residents are invited to stop by for a variety of election services, including:
- Voter Registration
- Registration Status Confirmation
- Mail-in and Absentee Ballot Requests
- Mail-in and Absentee Ballot Drop Offs*
- Status of your Mail-in and Absentee Ballot Request
- Polling Place Location Confirmation
- Pick up of Paper Forms and Applications (Spanish and English)
- Answers to election questions regarding paper ballots, disabled voter services, provisional ballots, vote-by-mail options, etc.
Banc of California Stadium (Los Angeles, California)
LAFC, the LA County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk and the California Secretary of State’s office, along with Rally the Vote, More Than A Vote and Our Own today announced the official dates Banc of California Stadium will serve as an L.A. County voting center for the Presidential General Election. County residents will have the opportunity to vote in-person or drop off Vote by Mail ballots for a five day period between October 30 – November 3 at the stadium in Los Angeles.
Voters can access the center through the NW Gates on Christmas Tree Lane with voting booths set up on the west concourse within Banc of California Stadium. Free parking will be available to voters at the Blue Structure in front of the California Science Center. The stadium will be open from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. PT between October 30 and November 2. Voting hours will extend on Election Day, with the Stadium opening at 7:00 a.m. PT and closing at 8:00 p.m. PT.
Allianz Field (St. Paul, Minnesota)
Minnesota United announced the club has partnered with Ramsey County to provide Allianz Field as a ballot return location for Ramsey County voters.
Starting Thursday, October 29, residents of Ramsey County can return their ballots for the 2020 election at the Brew Hall at Allianz Field. A curbside option is available on Shields Avenue.
Ballot return will be available:
- Thursday, October 29; 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Friday, October 30; 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Saturday, October 31; 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Monday, November 2; 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
CenturyLink Field (Seattle, Washington)
The Seattle Sounders' CenturyLink Field has been designated an official Vote Center location. Local citizens will be able to register to vote, get a replacement ballot, and receive other assistance from King County Elections staff during both the August Primary and November General elections as part of a continued partnership with King County Elections, which began on select game days in 2019, to promote the importance of voting throughout the 2020 elections.
The venue was open for the August primary as a voting center for ballot drop-off, a way to get a replacement ballot or to register to vote. CenturyLink will be open on Nov. 3 for day-of voting.
