TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
FC Cincinnati have signed midfielder José Martínez through 2026 with an option for the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, the club announced Friday.
The 32-year-old Venezuelan international was a free agent after last playing for Brazilian Série A side Corinthians.
Martínez previously played for the Philadelphia Union from 2020-24, logging 3g/11a in 108 regular-season games. The 2023 MLS All-Star helped Philly win the 2020 MLS Supporters' Shield and reach the 2022 MLS Cup final.
“We’re excited to welcome José to Cincinnati,” said general manager Chris Albright. “He’s an experienced player, a proven winner, and an elite competitor. He continues to attack his rehab with that same mentality, and we look forward to him joining the group.”
Martínez made 70 appearances for Corinthians before suffering a knee injury last winter.
Internationally, Martínez has featured 41 times for Venezuela. He's played in two Copa Américas.
