The expansion team tweeted Thursday morning the new release date will be July 22 after the original announcement, scheduled for last month, was delayed in the midst of the COVID-19 global pandemic.
“With everything going on in the world, we feel like it’s not the right time,” a club source told the Charlotte Observer last month.
The team, which will play its home games at Bank of America Stadium, remains on schedule to compete in the 2021 MLS season. They announced their first-ever signing — Spanish midfielder Sergio Ruiz — Wednesday.
