Columbus enter Wednesday's semifinal as a far different side than the one that began US Open Cup action in April.
Now led by interim head coach Laurent Courtois, the Crew added Brais Méndez and Santiago Rodríguez as Designated Player signings this summer.
Méndez was acquired from LaLiga's Real Sociedad, while Rodríguez joined from Brazilian Série A's Botafogo.
With those new faces in attack, Columbus are two wins away from lifting their first Open Cup title since 2002.

The 2022 US Open Cup champions are in fantastic form, going unbeaten in five games (4W-0L-1D) to surge into an Audi MLS Cup Playoffs spot.
They largely have Antoine Griezmann to thank for that turnaround, with the 2018 FIFA World Cup champion tallying 7g/2a in his last six matches.
The French forward joined the Lions this summer, arriving following a much-acclaimed career with LaLiga powerhouse Atlético Madrid.
